Matthew S. Black, Pastor, Teaching / Preaching
Pastor Black is a native of Illinois. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University and is currently pursuing graduate studies in the area of Biblical and Systematic Theology. He has been a foreign missionary in the Madrid and Basque regions of Spain, assisting in the establishment of two churches. Matt's first love is the ministry of preaching and teaching God's Word, but he also enjoys writing and recording God-centered music, studying Puritan and Reformed works, and even dabbling with a bit of graphic design. During his extracurricular time, he enjoys editing for Puritan Publications. He and his wife Jill have three children and reside in Elgin, Illinois.

Gary D. Johnson, E. A., Deacon Chairman, Church Treasurer
Brother Johnson spent his childhood in Kansas. He and his wife Judy are trained Biblical counselors, and he is a financial professional by trade. He has served at Tabernacle since 1994 in various positions of leadership such as a Bible teacher to both the teens and adults, church treasurer, and in the deaconate. He and his wife have two children, one of whom (Jim) is a missionary church planter to the country of Brazil, while their daughter (Lisa) is a pastor's wife in a church planting work in Phoenix, Arizona. The Johnsons have resided in Hanover Park, Illinois since 1976 and have seven grandchildren.

Michael Klikas, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent
Michael Klikas is a native Chicagoan, although he has lived most of his life in Hanover Park, Illinois just a few miles from Tabernacle Baptist Church. The Lord saved him in August of 1993 and started using him almost immediately. He has served the Lord in various ways at Tabernacle from teaching the Teen Sunday School class to preaching several services a week when needed. He has also been used of the Lord in the area of counseling. Both Mike and Cindy have served together in other Sunday School classes as teacher and assistant with the younger children. One of Mike's passions is apologetics. He and his wife Cindy have two children and are now living in the Elgin area.

Mike Larsen, Deacon, Director of Church Facilities (Caleb's Clan)
Mike Larsen grew up in San Diego, California where he and his wife, Dawn, met in high school. He was saved as a senior in high school. Mike has moved with his company from San Diego to Orange County, California, to Washington state, to Illinois where he has lived for the past six years. He has served at Tabernacle for the past four years in several ministries including: Jr. Church, VBS, Singles, and Teens. His wife Dawn serves as the church's secretary. He, his wife, and their two teenage children live in Hoffman Estates, Illinois..

Miles Crouse, Deacon Apprentice, Director of Evangelism
Miles Crouse is from the Chicago area. The Lord saved him in 1978, and he has served in two other Baptist churches in various capacities before coming to Tabernacle. At Tabernacle Bro. Miles has enjoyed teaching the Adult Sunday School class, and is also directing the evangelism efforts of our church. His wife Laura serves as the church's financial clerk. Miles and Laura have two daughters and a son and reside in Lemont, Illinois.
