We are glad you're here!  Come and join us as we seek Him who first sought us.  What can you expect when you visit?  We'll we're glad you asked….

A Praying Church
We strive to keep a continuous emphasis upon fervent prayer throughout this ministry as the early church "continued stedfastly...in prayers" (Acts 2:42).

A Baptist Church
Though we belong to no formal denomination, we do hold to the great Baptist distinctives such as the verbal inspiration of the Bible, baptism of believers by immersion, the priesthood of the believer, the autonomy of the local church, the separation of the church and state, and a regenerated church membership. We confess faith in Jesus Christ alone as Saviour with the Bible alone as our rule for faith and practice.  As a statement of faith, we are quite fond of the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, the doctrinal standard of the old-time Baptists such as Benjamin Keach, John Gill, and Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

A Christ-centered Church

We believe that man's chief end is to love God and to enjoy Him forever.  Our goal at Tabernacle, especially in our Lord's Day services, is, as much as is possible, to eliminate all distractions, so that our people can experience a God-focused communion with the Lord.  We are not trying to have a service that reminds people of the world out of which they are coming.  We are trying to have a service that is pointing them to another world entirely.   All we do therefore is God-saturated that we might "do all to the glory of God" (I Corinthians 10:31).

A Bible Saturated Church
Everything we believe and teach comes from the Bible. We journey through the Bible systematically via expository, theological, and practical preaching that we might continue "steadfastly in the apostles doctrine" (Acts 2:42).

A Pure Church
Because we believe in the holiness of God's person and His command that we be holy as He is holy, we must be separated from all that displeases Him. That means as a church, we strive to remain pure in our doctrine, in our associations, and in our personal lives. We are separated from apostasy, from brethren who deny sound doctrine, and from the world's godless lifestyle. We daily ask God "that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty" (1 Timothy 2:2).

An Evangelistic Church

Acts 1:8 teaches that every Christian is to win lost souls to Jesus Christ. We strive to diligently train every believer in the church to be skilled in both the moral Law which leaves us guilty before God, and the life-giving Gospel of Christ, which imputes Christ's righteousness to us and our guilt to Him. We do not believe that evangelism is a gift, but a
command for every blood bought child of God.

A Church with a Heart for Global Missions

We give above the Lord's tithes to support missionaries who are sent out to establish New Testament churches in our own nation as well as around the world. The command to "Go...into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature" is one that we take seriously (Mark 16:15).

A Preaching Church

"It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe" (1 Corinthians 1:21). Each week we open up the Bible and herald a God-centered, family oriented, expository message. We believe that God has spoken, and He would have us to understand what He has said, "line upon line...precept upon precept" (Isaiah 28:10-13).

An Equipping Church

The duty of pastors in the church is to instruct, teach, and encourage God's people, and to equip them for effective service for Christ. It is the saints who are the ministers of Christ and who do "the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12). Our desire is to see every believer as a full-functioning member of the Body of Christ who is being used of God that each one might be the vessel that God created him to be.
